vgmstream is a library that allows playback of several formats of video game music. Besides being a library, it is also available as a plugin for Winamp and foobar2000. It is able to play the streamed music in Pikmin 3, in the BSTFM format, and in Hey! Pikmin, in the BCSTM format.

Download[edit]

Use[edit]

If you don't have it already, get Winamp. Go to your Winamp installation folder and enter the Plugins folder. From vgmstream's download, get in_vgmstream.dll and place it in this folder. Then go to a music file, open it, and when asked what program to use to open it with, pick Winamp.

If you're trying to play a large Pikmin 3 song and Winamp isn't accepting it, that's because it has too many tracks to play inside Winamp, and must be exported into WAV. Go to Winamp's preferences (Ctrl+P), go into Output, and double-click "Nullsoft Disk Writer". In the output directory option, choose where you want the WAV file to go to, close the preferences, and play the file. Winamp will show the seek bar moving forward, but nothing will happen. When it's done, you'll find the WAV file of the song in the specified folder. Remember to set the output back to what it was, which is likely DirectSound.
