Notepad++ is a free and open source Notepad replacement that's formatted for code editing, making it preferable over standard Notepad.
A lot of files in Pikmin 2's root happen to be .txt files, and the types of commonly edited .txt files in Pikmin 2 include:
- Entity parameters
- Lighting parameters
- Camera parameters
- Pelletlists
- Cave music configuration
- Bgm/StreamList (Music volume)
- stages.txt (Areas, challenge mode, and vs)
- And many more
Notepad++ is ideal for parameter editing, while stuff like caves/unit sets and area layouts are better off being edited with different community tools. (though there may be an instance where you'll have to edit manually)
